R. K. Glass Plywood & Hardware

We are up on the 2nd Floor of No. 284/3 in Changaiah Layout. You have to come down 14th Cross in T. R. Nagar to find the building. Being on the second floor makes things interesting when we are moving glass and plywood around. It’s a lot of heavy lifting up and down, and you really feel it in your arms by the end of the day. The shop smells like sawdust and hardware oil most of the time. We keep all the glass sheets leaning against the walls and the plywood stacked wherever there is room. It’s a bit cramped in here, especially when we get a new delivery of hardware supplies. T. R. Nagar is a lively neighborhood, so there’s always the sound of traffic and people talking outside. We don't have a big sign outside, just the stuff we sell sitting near the door. The stairs are narrow, so we have to be very careful with the glass. Usually, one of us is busy cutting wood to size while someone else is looking for a specific hinge or screw in the bins. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. We don't spend much time on the computer; we’re mostly on our feet. It gets a bit dusty with all the wood being moved, but that’s just how a hardware place goes. We just open up in the morning and stay busy until it's time to head home.
