Laxmi Trading Co

Laxmi Trading Co is located right in the old Chickpet PO Building in Bangalore. We are at number 10. Chickpet is one of those places that never really seems to sleep. It’s always crowded and there’s so much history in these old buildings. The PO building itself has definitely seen better days, but it’s sturdy enough and it holds a lot of memories for those of us who have worked here for a long time. Our trading business is pretty basic and straightforward. We deal with whatever stock comes through and we still keep our records in those thick ledgers. It’s a bit of a walk through the narrow lanes to actually get to us, but most people in Chickpet know the landmark. The walls of the building are thick, so it stays a little bit cooler inside during the hot summer months. We have a few old desks and a lot of stuff stacked up in the corners. It isn't a fancy showroom or anything; it's a place where the actual work happens. There’s always the sound of carts being pushed outside on the stones and people shouting to each other across the street. We’ve grown used to all the noise over the years. It’s just part of being in Chickpet. We don't use any fancy software or have a polished front office. We just do our trading, talk to our suppliers, and manage the day. It’s just a local way of working.
