I've been running Khasims here at No.177 for quite a few years now. Shivaji Nagar is always a bit chaotic, especially on D K Street where we are located. It’s the kind of place where you know your neighbors and you see the same faces every morning. The shop itself is nothing fancy, just a straightforward place where we handle our business day by day. Sometimes the street gets so crowded that it's hard for people to even see the entrance, but we manage. Inside, it's mostly just shelves and the things we sell. I usually open up early before the heat gets too bad. People stop by to chat or look for something specific they need. We don't spend money on big signs or anything. The paint on the walls is getting a bit old, but it does the job. My desk is usually covered in papers and bits of stuff I'm working on. It’s not the quietest spot in Bangalore, that’s for sure. You can hear the bikes and the shouting from the market nearby all day long. If someone asks where we are, I just tell them to look for the old building near the corner of D K Street. It’s a simple life here, just keeping the shop going and making sure we have what people are looking for when they walk through the door. It gets dusty, but we clean it every morning and keep things moving.
