Kavya Xerox Centre

Our little spot, Kavya Xerox Centre, is at 74/1, right near the Gullu Chat place in Pankor Naka. If you know Kumara Park West, you know how busy this corner gets, especially in the evenings when everyone is out for a snack. The shop is mostly taken up by the big photocopy machines. They make a lot of heat and that constant humming sound all day long. Sometimes the black toner gets on our hands and it’s hard to wash off, so the counter usually has a few dark thumbprints on it. We do a lot of printing for the students and the people working in the offices nearby. It’s not a fancy office or anything. We have a couple of plastic stools for people to sit on while they wait for their spiral binding to be finished, but usually, they just stand around or go get a tea next door. The lighting inside is a bit bright because we need to see the small text on the papers. One of the machines is quite old and likes to jam if we feed it too fast, so we have to be careful with that one. We don't have a website or any of that, just the board outside. It gets pretty dusty with the wind blowing off the street, so we are always wiping down the glass. It’s a simple life, just making copies and talking to the regulars who come by to get their documents sorted.
