Kabadi Silks

Kabadi Silks is located at G-7 in Khan Market, which is over in the Cholarapalya area. It’s a ground-floor shop, which makes it easy for people to just wander in while they are doing their other shopping. I’ve been here for quite a while, and I’ve seen the market change quite a bit over the years. We mostly sell silk fabrics and some ready-made pieces. The shop is usually full of rolls of cloth stacked against the walls. It’s a bit dusty because of the open front, but that’s common for shops in this market. I try to keep the fabrics covered with plastic sheets at night. Cholarapalya is a lively place, especially in the evenings when everyone is out getting their groceries. I usually sit on a small stool near the entrance so I can greet people as they pass by. Sometimes they stop for a chat even if they aren’t buying anything. It’s a friendly neighborhood. My son helps me out on the busy days, especially when we get a new delivery and have to sort everything. We don’t have any fancy marketing or big posters. Just the name on the board above the door. If you need some silk for a dress or a ceremony, you just come in and look through the piles. I tell people to take their time because choosing the right color shouldn't be rushed. It’s just a simple life running a shop in a busy market and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
