K S I C Mysore Silk

We are over here at Janata Bazaar on KG Road. Most people know the spot because it’s right there on Kempa Gowda Road and it’s always busy outside. We’ve been running this place for a while now. The shop is at number 10. It’s mostly about the silk. We get these sarees in and we put them out on the racks. It’s quiet inside compared to the street traffic. We don't really do fancy displays. If you come in, you just see the stacks of cloth. Sometimes the lighting is a bit dim in the corners but you can see the colors well enough. My family has been around this area for years. We open up in the morning and stay until the market starts to wind down. People come in looking for something specific for a wedding or just a gift. We don't push anyone to buy. We just sit here and help if someone asks a question about the weight of the silk or the gold thread. The floor gets a bit dusty from all the foot traffic coming off the main road. It is just a regular shop where we keep the heritage stuff. We keep things simple. There isn't any loud music or big signs. Just the silk and the shelves. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over time. The building is older but it holds up. We just keep doing what we do every day.
