I’ve been working out of this office at 138 Seshadripuram for quite some time now. It’s on the first floor right on Drive In Road, which is a busy stretch near the old Natraj Theatre. The building is one of those typical older ones with narrow stairs that creak a bit when you walk up to the top. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of thick books and folders that have been sitting on the shelves for years. There is a lot of paper everywhere—on the desk, on the guest chairs, and even stacked on the floor sometimes. It’s a one-man show mostly, though I have someone who helps out with the filing and cleaning now and then. People come in with all sorts of legal worries, and we sit across from each other at a big wooden desk that’s seen better days. The traffic noise from the road outside is a constant hum, but you get used to it after a few weeks. I don’t use any fancy software or apps; I still prefer writing things down in a thick notebook. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it works for the people who come here. Usually, I spend my mornings at the court and the afternoons here in the office meeting people. It’s not a flashy lifestyle, but it’s honest work. If the theater is having a big show, the street gets packed, so I usually try to finish up my work before the evening rush starts.
