Running K A K Stores at 39/1 on Lambe Hanuman Road is something that keeps us on our feet all day long. We are right opposite St Mary's Church, which is a big landmark in Shivaji Nagar. It helps people find us, even if they aren't from around here. The morning usually starts with the sound of the church bells and the tea stalls opening up nearby. Shivaji Nagar is a packed area, and our little corner sees a lot of foot traffic. We’ve got shelves filled with all sorts of things people need for their homes. It’s often a bit cluttered inside, but we know where everything is kept. Sometimes it’s just one person behind the counter, other times there are a couple of us helping out. We deal with all kinds of customers, from the regulars who live in the back lanes to people just passing through on their way to the bus stop. The road outside is always dug up or busy with scooters, which makes things a bit dusty, but we keep the fans going and just get on with it. We don't have a website or any of those modern things. People just walk in, ask for what they want, and we find it for them. It’s a simple way to work, and it suits us just fine. Staying here has let us see the neighborhood grow and change over the years. We just keep doing what we do.
