Jyothis

Jyothis is a small spot we run on Old Hanuman Lane over in Basaveshwara Nagar. It’s located at number 461 in the Kalbadevi area, which is always packed with people and carts moving goods. If you’ve ever walked down these lanes, you know how narrow and busy they get. Our shop has been part of this street for a long time. We mostly sell everyday items that people in the neighborhood need. It’s not a supermarket or anything big like that. It’s just a regular shop where we know most of the customers by their names. Sometimes the shelves get a bit disorganized when we have a busy morning, but we straighten them out eventually. We don't have any big marketing plans or fancy signs. The sign we have is old and a bit faded from the sun. We open early because that’s when the area starts waking up and the deliveries come through the lane. It can get a bit dusty with all the construction and traffic around Kalbadevi, but that’s just how it is here. Most of our day is spent chatting with neighbors who stop by for one or two things and end up staying to talk about the weather or the local news. We like the pace of this place even if it feels a bit chaotic to outsiders. It’s just us doing what we’ve done for years in this little corner of the city.
