John Joel

John Joel is located over in Ramamurthy Nagar, specifically on the Alka Simla Road in the Dolkha 63 area. It is a bit of a trek if you are coming from the main part of the city, but it's a nice enough neighborhood. The office is tucked away and we’ve been operating out of here for a while. Most of the work involves handling things for the local community and keeping up with the daily tasks that come our way. The road outside can get a bit bumpy after the rain, so we end up cleaning the floor quite often. We have a couple of desks and a lot of files that seem to grow every month. It is not a place with big signs or flashing lights. People usually know where we are because they live nearby or heard about us from a neighbor. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we just sit by the window and wait for it to come back on. It’s a quiet life here. We handle whatever comes through the door, whether it’s paperwork or people asking for a bit of help with something. The tea stall down the street is where we usually grab a snack. We just keep things moving at our own pace. It is just John and a few of us making sure everything stays on track. We've been in this spot for years and know everyone around the block.
