Janani Clinic

The clinic is on the ground floor of number 122 on Shivaji Road right in the middle of Shivajinagar. Being on the ground floor is lucky because no one has to worry about stairs or elevators. Shivaji Road is always buzzing with activity so there is never a dull moment looking out the front window. We open up early in the morning to get everything ready before the crowds start moving outside. The interior is pretty basic with plain walls and a tiled floor that we mop every single morning. We have a little corner for the files and a desk where we take down everyone’s information. It can get quite loud with the buses and bikes going past but we just talk a bit louder to be heard. We see a lot of people who work in the local markets or live in the nearby lanes. Our day is usually filled with routine checkups and people coming in for quick advice on minor aches. We have a small staff of just a few people so we all end up doing a bit of everything from cleaning to answering the door. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit by the window to see what we are doing but we manage. It is just a regular part of life here on Shivaji Road and we keep things moving as best as we can every day.
