We are based out at the Air Force Station in Yelahanka. Specifically, we work at the ATC area. It is way up north in Bangalore, past the main city sprawl. The vibe here is very different from the rest of the town. You hear planes and helicopters taking off all through the day. It’s quite loud, but you get used to it after a week or two. Our office is functional, mostly just metal desks and old chairs. We deal with a lot of coordination for the stuff happening on the airfield. During the big air shows, this whole place turns into a madhouse with thousands of people and security everywhere. But on a normal Tuesday, it is just a bunch of us doing our jobs and making sure things are where they should be. The station is huge, so we do a lot of walking or cycling between buildings. It’s 560063 for the pin code, in case anyone is sending us mail. There is a small canteen nearby where we get our samosas and tea. It is very disciplined here, which I guess you’d expect. We don't have fancy decorations. Just maps of the runways and schedules pinned to the boards. It’s a lot of routine, but seeing the jets go up never really gets old. We just keep our heads down and do the work required by the station commanders and the flight plans.
