Hsbc (Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation)

Working for HSBC here in Bangalore is a bit of a journey every day. We are located at Sy No 203 in the Oceanus Red Rock building. It’s in Hoysala Nagar, which is a busy part of the city, especially with all the new construction and traffic. If you’ve ever tried to get around Bangalore in the evening, you know what I’m talking about. The building is a big red structure, so it’s hard to miss. Inside, it’s just rows of desks and people with headsets on. We handle the banking side of things for the Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation. It sounds very grand, but for us, it’s just a job where we look at screens and talk to customers all day. The office has that typical Bangalore feel—lots of tech, lots of coffee, and everyone always seems to be in a hurry. We have a break room where we eat our lunch, usually brought from home in steel dabbas. It’s not like the movies where everyone is in a suit. Most of us just wear whatever is comfortable for the long shift. The air conditioning is always a bit too cold, so many of us keep sweaters at our desks even when it’s hot outside. We’re just a small part of a huge bank, working out of a red building in 560016. It’s a lot of routine, but we get through it together.
