Hotel Spice Village , Thekkady , Kerala

Even though the hotel itself is tucked away in the greenery of Thekkady, this office here in Bangalore is where we handle a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff. We are located on the second floor of the Mugunna Compound in Srinivagilu. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs but it’s a good space. Being in the Vivek Nagar Post area means we are right in the middle of the city's hustle. We spend our time talking to people about their upcoming trips to Kerala and making sure their rooms are blocked out. It's a lot of coordination between here and the actual resort. We have files everywhere and the phone rings pretty often. It’s not the quiet forest vibe of Spice Village, but we make it work. Most of us here have been to the property so we know what it’s like, but our day-to-day is mostly spreadsheets and phone calls. We deal with travel agents and individual families who are planning their holidays. Sometimes the Bangalore traffic makes it hard for people to visit us, so we do most things over the computer. We try to be straightforward with everyone. If a room isn’t available, we say so. We just want things to run smoothly so the guests don’t have issues when they finally reach Kerala. It’s a busy little office but we like the pace and the people we talk to every day.
