Hotel Ista,Bangalore

If you know Bangalore at all, you know how busy Halasuru can get. That’s where Hotel Ista is located. We have been running things here for a while now. It’s a hotel, so things never really stop moving, day or night. There is always someone checking in or out, or someone calling the front desk asking for extra towels at three in the morning. Our staff is mostly made up of people who live nearby or commute in from different parts of the city. The lobby gets a lot of sunlight in the morning, which is nice to see, but it also shows every bit of dust on the tables that we have to keep wiping down. Running a hotel isn’t like what you see on TV. It’s a lot of checking the laundry, making sure the kitchen has enough eggs for breakfast, and dealing with things like leaky taps or slow drains. We try to keep the rooms decent and comfortable. The street outside can be really noisy with the traffic and the buses, but that’s just Bangalore life for you. We have a routine that keeps us going from one shift to the next. Some days are smoother than others, obviously. When the monsoon hits, we spend half our time putting out mats so people don’t slip on the wet floors. It’s just a practical place for people to stay when they are in town for work or visiting their family. We don’t put on airs here. We just provide a room and try to be helpful.
