Hotel Barbees

Hotel Barbees sits at number 12 on Dickenson Road. It’s a central spot, which means we get a lot of people who are in town for all sorts of reasons. The street outside can be quite hectic with all the cars and people walking by. Inside, we just try to keep things steady. The building has been here for a while, so we are always fixing little things, like a tap that won't stop dripping or a lightbulb that flickered out. It’s a small operation. We have a few rooms and a modest reception desk. Most of our day is spent handling bookings and making sure the guests have what they need. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe the place. It’s just a hotel. We aren't a big chain with hundreds of employees. Usually, it's just a couple of us managing the front and someone helping with the cleaning. We know the local shops around here pretty well and can tell you where to get a decent tea. Sometimes it gets a bit lonely on the night shift, just watching the streetlights outside. But then morning comes, and the breakfast rush starts, and we are busy again. It’s a predictable life, and we are fine with that. We just want to keep the doors open and the rooms ready for whoever arrives next. It's nothing fancy, just a place to sleep while you are visiting.
