Heavenly Farms

Our place is located in Madivala on the 1st Main Road, 3rd Cross, at house number 19 / 61. It is more of an office and a small storage spot than a real farm with fields and cows. We handle a lot of the logistics for getting produce from the outskirts into the city markets. Every morning there are crates moving in and out and the smell of fresh greens is quite strong. We deal with many different people, mostly truck drivers and small vendors who need stock for their carts. The office itself is just a simple room with a couple of chairs and a ceiling fan that works most of the time. We spend a lot of time on the phone coordinating with the growers to see what is ready for harvest. Sometimes things don't go as planned because of the weather or the traffic on the highway. We have to be flexible and just deal with whatever arrives at the door. There is always a layer of mud on the floor during the monsoon season because people are walking in from the wet streets. We keep a ledger of all the crates going out so nothing gets lost in the shuffle. It's hard work and the hours are long, starting well before dawn, but it feels good to see the food moving through the city. We aren't trying to be big, just trying to keep the supply steady.
