Pragati Apparels India Pvt. Ltd. is situated at No. 8/2 on the first floor of the 6th Cross in Govinda Rajanagar. We’ve been in this neighborhood for a while, and it’s a good spot for what we do. The first floor is mostly taken up by our cutting tables and the sewing area. It’s a pretty functional setup without any of the bells and whistles you might see in a corporate office. We deal with a lot of different fabrics, so there are always scraps and threads all over the place. The workers here are mostly people from the nearby streets who have been sewing for years. We start work early in the morning when it’s still cool outside. By midday, the sound of the machines is pretty constant. We don’t have a big fancy sign outside, just the name on the door so people know they’ve found the right place. Most of our business comes from long-term contracts where we provide the finished garments. We spend a lot of time double-checking the measurements because even a small mistake can ruin a whole batch of clothes. It’s not the easiest way to make a living, but it’s what we know. We have tea together in the afternoons to take a break from the noise. It’s just a normal day-to-day operation where we try to get things done without too much fuss.
