Gopi Krishnan

Gopi Krishnan is just the name we go by here at Chikka Banavara. We are right by the Hirabaug Railway Crossing, so we hear the trains going by all day long. It's something you just get used to after a week or two of working here. The shop isn't much to look at from the outside, but it works for what we need. We've been at this crossing for a good amount of time now. People in the area know us mostly by word of mouth. We don't do much advertising because we're usually busy with whatever comes through the door. The dust from the road and the tracks gets everywhere, so we are always cleaning up. It's a busy little spot in Chikka Banavara. You can see the trains stopping and starting right from our front window. Sometimes the traffic at the crossing gets backed up and people get frustrated, but we just keep working away inside. It's just a regular local business. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know the trade. We drink a lot of tea from the stall down the road. It’s a practical place to be. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or anything like that. We just wake up, come to the shop near the railway, and do the work that needs doing. It’s a simple life. Most days are pretty much the same, and we like it that way. It's honest work and it keeps us busy.
