Gilwood Fashion

Gilwood Fashion is located at Sy. No. 154/6 in Dorasani Palya, right on Bannerghatta Road. If you live in Bangalore, you know how the traffic is on this road. It can take forever to get anywhere. Our place is a bit of a refuge from all that noise outside. It’s a functional building where we do all our apparel work. We have a lot of space for the sewing machines and the fabric storage. The walls are mostly bare, and the floors are concrete. It’s not meant to be a showroom. We just focus on the manufacturing side of fashion. Most of the staff comes in by bus or on their scooters. We start early to try and beat some of the traffic, though it doesn't always work. The work is steady. We have stacks of fabric that need to be turned into finished garments. There’s always someone checking the seams or packing boxes. We don't use any fancy management talk here. We just tell people what needs to be done for the day and we do it. Sometimes it’s a bit chaotic when a big order is due, but we usually figure it out. It’s just a regular bunch of people working in a regular building on a very busy road. Gilwood Fashion is basically just a place where we put in our hours and get the clothes made. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s steady and it keeps us all occupied.
