G Square

G Square is located at No. 226 in Chamarajpet. We are right near the 4th Main and 3rd Cross intersection, which is just a short walk from the Uma Theatre signal. That signal is always a bit of a mess with traffic, so it’s easy to find us if you know that landmark. Our building is a regular house that we converted for classes. It has that old Bangalore feel to it, with some narrow stairs and rooms that aren't perfectly square. We don't have a corporate office or anything like that. It's just a few of us here every day, getting things ready before the students show up after their school let out. We have some basic benches and a couple of boards. The air in Chamarajpet always feels a bit different, a bit more traditional than the newer parts of the city. We spend our time looking at textbooks and trying to solve the problems that the kids bring in. It's nothing fancy, just a practical place to sit and study. Sometimes we have to move the chairs around to fit everyone in if a class is a bit bigger than usual. We don’t really do anything promotional; we just open the doors and get to work. Most of the kids come from the surrounding streets, so it feels like a very local community here. It’s a bit messy at times with papers everywhere, but it’s a good kind of busy. We just keep going until the evening ends.
