G S Marulaiah

You can find G S Marulaiah over in Balepet on the first floor, right near where the State Bank of Mysore is. Balepet is a very old and crowded part of the city, so you have to keep your eyes open or you might walk right past the entrance. We have been operating from this building for many years now. It’s one of those old constructions where the stairs are a bit steep and narrow. Once you get up to the first floor, it’s a bit quieter than the street below, but you can still hear all the horns and the people shouting. We deal with various trading activities, and our office is usually full of samples and paperwork piled up on the desks. It’s not a corporate office with fancy interiors. We just have what we need to get the work done. A few old ceiling fans and some wooden cupboards that have been here since the start. Most of our day is spent talking to people who come in or handling stuff over the phone. We’ve seen many businesses in Balepet come and go, but we’ve managed to stay put. It’s a lot about knowing the people in the market and having a bit of patience. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know the routine. It’s a simple life and we like being in the heart of the old city. It feels like home after all these years.
