Our office is inside Bharti, which is House Number 20 on the 9th Main road. If you are coming from 16th Cross in Lakkasandra, you will find us easily enough. This part of Bangalroe-560030 is always changing, but our building stays pretty much the same. Inside, it is just stacks of books and paper everywhere you look. We have been doing this for years, mostly just handling the publishing side of things. It is a lot of reading through manuscripts and talking to the printers on the phone. The morning starts with someone bringing in a tray of tea, and then we just get to it. It is not a shiny office with glass walls; it is more like a lived-in home that happens to be full of books. Sometimes the delivery vans get stuck in the narrow lanes around here, and we have to go out and help them navigate the turn. We spend a lot of time checking the details on the pages before they go out. There are about six of us in the main room, and it gets a bit loud when everyone is talking at once. We like the neighborhood because it still feels a bit old-school compared to the rest of the city. You get used to the sound of the birds and the occasional scooter zooming past the gate. It is just a regular place where we get the books ready for the shops and make sure the boxes are packed right for shipping.
