Our spot is at Asu Kiran, house number 3-155, over in the Bajal Kallakatta area of Mangalore. It’s near the Padil Post, so it’s easy enough for the postman to find us, even if the road gets a bit confusing for outsiders. Working for a name like Etihad while being based in a place like Mangalore is interesting. You’ve got the local vibes of 575007 mixed with the idea of flying all over the world. Most days, it’s just about handling the local inquiries and making sure the paperwork for this region is sorted out. The air is salty because we aren't far from the coast, and the humidity usually means the papers on my desk feel a bit damp by noon. I’ve lived in Mangalore my whole life, so I don’t mind the heat or the slow pace of the Padil area. People stop by to ask questions, and I do what I can to help them out without any of that corporate talk you get in big cities. We don't have a giant airport lounge here, just a regular office space where we get things done. It’s quiet, except when the local traffic picks up or the neighbor’s dog starts barking. I usually have a quick lunch and get back to the computer. It’s a decent living, and it keeps me connected to the world while staying right here at home.
