I have been working out of 46 Malleswaram West for a long time now. The 16th Cross area gets really busy in the mornings when the flower sellers are out near the corner. Our spot on 4th Main has seen a lot of changes over the years, with new buildings popping up everywhere. My desk is pushed right up against the window, so I hear the scooters buzzing by all day long. Sometimes the rain splashes through the tiny gap in the window frame when the wind picks up from the east. It is usually just me and a couple of helpers here during the week. We keep all the files and paperwork stacked on these old wooden shelves that have been here since the start. There is not much to say about the place other than it is where the work gets done. The walls are a bit dusty and could use a fresh coat of paint, but the current shade of off-white is what I am used to. I usually get tea brought in from the small stall at the intersection twice a day. The mornings are for sorting through whatever came in the previous evening. By the afternoon, the heat starts to settle in, and the ceiling fan makes a rhythmic clicking sound that I have stopped noticing. Most people find us by looking for the old gate near the temple. It is a simple setup, but it has been our home base for years. (236 words)
