Discharge Summary Specialist. C/O. Abhaya Hospital, Hosur Road, Bangalore. We are based at Abhaya Hospital on Hosur Road in Bangalore. Our role here is as Discharge Summary Specialists. This means we are the ones who put together all the information when a patient is ready to leave the hospital and go home. It is a very specific job and it takes a lot of focus to get it right. We spend most of our time looking at medical files and typing out the details of what happened during someone’s stay. It isn't the most exciting work, but it is very important for the doctors and the patients to have a clear record. The hospital is always a busy and sometimes stressful place, but we have our own space where we can concentrate on the paperwork. Hosur Road is one of the busiest streets in Bangalore, so there is always a lot of noise from the traffic outside. We don't have any big corporate goals or fancy slogans. We just want to make sure that every summary we write is accurate and finished on time. It involves a lot of reading and double-checking names and dates. Sometimes we have to track down a doctor to clarify something, which can take a while. We aren't looking for any special recognition. We just do our part in the hospital system and try to be as helpful as we can. It’s a steady job that keeps us busy every day of the week. We just focus on the files and getting the work done right.
