Desi Khana Restaurant, Bangalore

This place has a bit of a funny story because the name says Bangalore but the address is actually in Giridih, Jharkhand. We are located in Darji Mohla within the village of Dewton Kharsan. It is a real rural spot and Md. Hakim Hussain is the one who mostly looks after things here. The village is quiet and we are surrounded by a lot of open land and small houses. Our kitchen is where everything happens and the smell of spices usually fills up the whole street by mid-morning. We don't have a big dining hall or fancy menus printed on glossy paper. It is just simple food made the way we learned from our parents. Most of the people who eat here are neighbors or people passing through the Gawan police station area. The road to get here is a bit bumpy so you have to take your time. We get our vegetables from the local market and everything is fresh. Sometimes we run out of things early if it's a busy day. It feels more like a home than a business most of the time. There is always a pot of something bubbling on the stove and someone sitting on a wooden bench waiting for their meal. It is a long way from the big city life but we like the pace of things here in Jharkhand.
