Comanna Seeds

Out here at Malleshwaram 527/1, we run Comanna Seeds. It’s mostly about seeds for farmers and people with small gardens around here. We’ve got bags of different varieties stacked up against the walls. The smell of the shop is quite earthy, which I’ve grown to like over the years. We open pretty early in the morning because that’s when the growers like to get their supplies before heading out. It’s a busy spot during the planting season, and things can get a little messy with dust and bits of husk on the floor. I usually sweep up at the end of the day, but it never stays clean for long. We have a small desk where we keep the ledger and take notes on what people are asking for. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the back window, so we have to move the stock away from that corner. We don't do any big advertising. Word of mouth seems to work best in this part of Malleshwaram. People know we’ve been here at 527/1 for a long time. If a batch of seeds isn't looking right, we tell people straight up. There’s no point in selling something that won’t grow. It’s just me and my brother handling things most of the time. We don't use any fancy computers, just a calculator and our notebooks. It’s a quiet life, mostly, except for the busy months when everyone wants to plant.
