Chef

Our place, called Chef, is situated at 24/A in Vivekananda Nagar. Specifically, we are on 1st A Main, right near the 2nd Cross in BSK 3rd Stage. It’s a residential neighborhood in Bangalore, so it feels very local and friendly. We spend most of our time in the kitchen preparing food for the day. It’s not a massive restaurant with hundreds of tables. It’s a bit more personal than that. We started this because we liked cooking and wanted to share that with the people around BSK. The smell of spices is usually the first thing you notice when you walk in. We have a small crew helping out with the chopping and the cleaning after we close up. It gets really busy during the dinner hours. Sometimes we run out of certain ingredients if the market was short that morning, but we make do with what we have. The floors are a bit worn from all the walking back and forth between the kitchen and the counter. We don't have a fancy menu with photos or anything like that. It's just a simple list of what we can make that day. People from the nearby houses often stop by to pick up food for their families. It’s nice seeing the same faces every week. We try to keep the prices fair so everyone can afford a meal. It's hard work being on your feet all day, but it feels good. Bangalore is a city that loves its food, and we are just happy to be a part of it.
