Charis Agro & Cold Storage

Our facility is at No.16 in Vasanth Nagar, right across from the Cunningham Road police station. Bangalore has changed a lot, but we’ve stayed here doing the same thing. We provide cold storage for different kinds of agricultural goods. It’s a practical business. We have big rooms that we keep at very low temperatures. The machines are old but we keep them running. It’s a noisy place with the constant hum of the cooling units. My day is mostly spent checking the temperatures and making sure the doors are shut tight. Trucks come and go throughout the day, which can be a bit of a mess with the traffic on the main road. We don't have any fancy office or marketing people. It’s just a few of us making sure the farmers' products don't spoil. The dust from the street gets everywhere, but we try to keep the inside clean. It’s not the kind of job people talk about at parties. We just focus on the electricity and the compressors. If the power goes out, we have to move fast. It’s a lot of responsibility because people trust us with their stock. Vasanth Nagar is a busy area, so there is always something happening outside our gate. We’ve been at this spot for quite a few years and plan to stay as long as the machines keep turning.
