Cashier

My name is Suresh Kumar and I work at the front office of Hotel Nandhini over in R T Nagar. This is Bangalore 32. I spend most of my day behind the counter. It’s a busy hotel, and there is always someone checking in or checking out. I handle the bills and make sure the cash register is right at the end of my shift. Sometimes the guests are in a hurry and they get a bit impatient if the printer jams. It happens more than I’d like. I see all sorts of people coming through these doors. Some are here for weddings, others are just traveling for work. The lobby isn't very big, so it can get crowded when a whole group arrives at once. I also help out with other things if the manager is busy. We have a lot of regular guests who know me by name. I’ve been here for a while, so I know the routine by heart. The hotel is on a main road, so it’s never really quiet. You can hear the traffic and the horns all day long. I usually have my lunch in a small room in the back when things calm down in the afternoon. It is steady work. I just make sure the paperwork is done and everyone gets their receipts before they head out. Keeping track of all the keys and the booking book is what my day is mostly about.
