Car Cool Centre

If you go to Malleshwaram and look opposite the Dhobi Ghat, you will see our shop at number 36. Car Cool Centre is basically just a garage space where we fix up air conditioners. It’s usually pretty messy with tools and parts scattered on the benches. We’ve got cars parked out front most of the time, especially when the weather starts getting hot. People come in complaining about the heat and we get to work on the pipes and the gas. It’s a greasy job, and our hands are always black by the end of the day. The Dhobi Ghat across the street is a good landmark because everyone knows it. We don’t have a waiting room with a TV or anything like that. Customers usually just stand around or go get a coffee nearby while we tinker with their vehicles. Sometimes we find old things stuck in the vents, which is always a bit funny. It’s just me and a couple of helpers. We’ve been at this spot for a long time. The roof leaks a little when it pours, but we just put a bucket under it and keep going. We don’t do anything special, just fix what’s broken and move on to the next car. It keeps us fed and the neighbors know us. We are usually here from morning until the sun goes down, unless we have to go out to pick up some spare parts from the market.
