C K Babu

My name is Babu and this is my shop in Shivaji Nagar. It’s at number 26. I've been in this spot for a long time. People just know me as C K Babu. I sell mostly daily items and some hardware bits. It’s a mix of things really. If someone needs a bulb or a specific kind of screw, they come here. I also keep some stationery. The shop is small and the shelves go all the way to the ceiling. I have to use a ladder to reach the top. It’s a bit dusty but I know where everything is. Shivaji Nagar is always loud. There's always someone shouting or a horn honking. I sit on my stool near the door and watch the world go by. I don't have employees. Just me. Sometimes my nephew comes to sit with me when he’s bored. He helps with the heavy boxes. I don't use any fancy systems. I have a wooden drawer for the cash. It has a nice sound when it slides open. I close for an hour in the afternoon to eat my lunch. Usually, it’s just rice and sambar from home. I don't want a big business. This is enough for me. It pays the bills and I get to talk to my friends every day. I like the routine of opening up every morning. It keeps me busy.
