British Airways World Cargo has a presence out here near Bangalore, specifically in Chikkajala. We are located at Number 18, on the second floor of a building in Pilakamma Nagar. You’ll find us under the care of Muniraj N. and Sameer K.M. Being so close to the airport is pretty much a requirement for what we do. The cargo business is all about timing and moving things from one place to another. It’s a lot of heavy lifting, both literally and with the paperwork. We don’t have a fancy lobby or any of those corporate perks. It’s a practical office where we focus on the logistics of air freight. The second floor gives us a bit of a view, but mostly we’re looking at manifests and delivery schedules. The road out to Chikkajala can be a bit rough sometimes, but it’s the heart of the logistics hub for the region. We deal with all sorts of goods that need to get on a plane. It’s a high-pressure environment when things are moving fast, but we’ve got a rhythm down. Most of the guys here have been working together for years. We don’t really talk in corporate slogans; we just get the crates moved and the forms signed. It’s hard work, and the hours can be strange depending on the flight schedules, but we keep the operations going without making a big deal of it. We are just here doing our part for the shipping world and keeping things on track.
