We have been operating out of this spot in Peenya for a long time now. If you know the 3rd Phase, you know how busy it gets with all the trucks and people moving around every morning. Our building at No. 57 A isn’t anything fancy to look at, just a regular industrial space where we get the work done. The machines started humming early today, just like they do every other day. You can hear the rhythmic clicking of the looms from the street if the wind is blowing the right way. Most of us here have been working together for years, so we don't really need to talk much to know what needs to be finished. The air inside always smells a bit like raw cotton and machine oil, which is just part of the job. Sometimes the power goes out and we all sit outside for a bit, watching the traffic crawl by on the main road. It is a loud place, but it feels right to be here. We spend our days checking rolls of fabric and making sure the counts are correct. There isn't much drama, just the steady pace of production. When the sun starts to go down over the industrial area, we pack things up and head home, ready to do the same thing tomorrow. It’s hard work, but it’s what we do here in Peenya.
