Bhaktavathsalam Paper Mart

If you head over to Sultanpet, you’ll find us in the Divya Laxmi Towers at 200/21. We go by the name Bhaktavathsalam Paper Mart. As you can guess from the name, our whole world is paper. Sultanpet is famous for being the hub for stationery and paper products, and we are right in the thick of it. The shop is filled with different weights and sizes of paper, from thin sheets to heavy cardstock. It’s a very physical job, moving these heavy reams around and cutting them to size for customers. The air in the shop always has that faint, dry smell of paper. We have customers who come in for wedding card stock or just simple office supplies. Being in a tower means we have a bit of a different layout than the street-side stalls, but it’s still very much a traditional mart. We don’t use any automated systems for the most part; we know our inventory by heart. When someone asks for a specific shade of cream or a certain texture, we usually know exactly which stack to look in. It gets very busy during the school season and before major festivals. We just focus on keeping the stock full and the cutting machine running. It’s straightforward work that we’ve been doing for years in this same building. We just want to get the orders right and keep things moving.
