Bayleaf Restaurant

We are located at 408 Poonamallee High Road in Chennai. If you know this road, you know how busy it gets with all the cars and buses rushing by all day long. Bayleaf Restaurant has been here for a while, and the building is actually an old one, number 763 on the old mapping. Running a restaurant in this part of Chennai means things are always moving fast. The kitchen is usually hot, and there's always the smell of spices in the air, which we don't even notice anymore. We spend our mornings getting the ingredients ready and making sure the dining area is clean before the first customers walk in. It’s a lot of hard work on your feet, and by the end of the shift, we’re all pretty tired. We have our regulars who come in every week, and we know exactly what they’re going to order before they even sit down. The staff is like a small family; we argue sometimes, but we always get the food out on time. It’s not a perfect place—the paint might be peeling in a corner and the traffic noise never really stops—but it’s our place. We don't have any big speeches about our food; we just cook what we know and hope people enjoy their meal. It’s just honest cooking on a very busy road in the heart of the city, and we are happy to be here.
