Barter Impex

Barter Impex is situated in Chamrajpet, at the Saramji Society, number 193. Chamrajpet is one of those older parts of Bangalore that has a lot of character. Our office is inside the society, so it’s a bit more tucked away than a storefront on a main road. We do import and export work from here. Most of the day involves looking at shipping documents and talking to people at the port or the customs office. It’s a lot of back-and-forth emails and phone calls. The office is pretty full of paperwork and samples of things we are working with. It isn't a polished showroom or anything like that. It’s more of a place where actual work gets done. There are usually a few of us here, and we keep things pretty informal. We have a small pantry where we make our own coffee and lunch. Sometimes the neighbors from the society stop by to say hello. It feels more like a community than a business district. We’ve been at 193 for quite some time now. We don't have any fancy advertisements. People usually find out about us through word of mouth or old connections. It’s a steady kind of life, just managing the trade and making sure the shipments are moving like they are supposed to. We just take it one day at a time and deal with the paperwork as it comes across the desk. It works for us.
