Barista Coffe Company Ltd is over at Ushuss, House Number 87, in Kairali Nagar. We are tucked away in Choondy, Alwaye, which is a nice part of Ernakulam in Kerala. Our days usually start pretty early when the smell of coffee begins to fill the space. It’s not a huge place, just enough room for the machines and some tables for people to sit at. We spend a lot of time cleaning counters and making sure the beans are ready for the next rush. Being in Kerala, we get a lot of rain, and those are the days when the shop feels most crowded with people trying to stay dry. We know most of our regulars and how they like their drinks, which makes the work feel a bit more personal. It’s not always easy standing on your feet all day, and sometimes the milk steamer acts up right when we are busy, but we manage to keep things moving. We don't have any fancy marketing slogans or big corporate speeches. We just make coffee and try to keep the place tidy. There’s always some music playing in the background, usually whatever the person behind the counter likes that day. It’s a simple business where the main goal is just to serve a decent cup of coffee to anyone who walks through the door in Alwaye. The floor gets a bit muddy when it pours but we just keep mopping it.
