Working at Bangalore Central on Residency Road involves a lot of standing around and moving things from one shelf to another. We are located at number 47/48, right across from Mayo Hall, which is a big old building that everyone in the city knows. The traffic on this road is some of the worst you will find, so we see a lot of frustrated drivers through the front windows. The store itself is huge, and it takes quite a while to walk from one end to the other when we are doing inventory. We have different floors for everything. Most of us who work here have our own little sections to look after. I have been in the clothing section for a while now. We spend the mornings unpacking heavy boxes and the evenings folding clothes that customers have tried on and left behind. It is a lot of physical work, and our feet usually hurt quite a bit by the end of the shift. The air conditioning is always running, which is nice in the summer, but it can get a bit cold if you are standing directly under a vent. We get all kinds of people coming in, from big families on the weekends to office workers during their quick lunch breaks. We do not mind if people just come in to escape the heat for a bit. It is a big space and there is room for everyone. We are just regular people doing our daily jobs.
