B B Umadevi Advocate

My name is B B Umadevi and I handle legal matters here in Jayanagar 7th Block. The office is over in Sector 23 near Transport Nagar. It’s a busy spot with trucks and people moving around all day. I’ve been working from this location for quite a while now. Most days are spent looking through files or sitting with people who need help understanding some legal document they got in the mail. The office isn't anything fancy, just a desk, some chairs, and a lot of paper stacks that seem to grow every week. Sometimes it gets a bit loud outside because of the transport hub, but we just close the windows and keep working. People usually find me by word of mouth or just by walking past the sign on the street. It’s mostly local stuff, contracts, property papers, or just giving a bit of direction when someone is confused about a law. I try to keep things straightforward. Law can be messy and full of words that don’t make much sense to a regular person, so I spend a lot of time explaining things in plain English. My assistant helps with the filing, though sometimes things still get buried on the desk. We get a mix of folks coming in, some from right here in Jayanagar and others who drive in from further out. It is just the way it is. We keep the kettle going for tea when it's cold. It's a job that keeps me busy and I like being in this part of town.
