Ayaz Ahmed & Advocates

Our office is right in Shivaji Nagar, on the first floor of the Ysh Complex. It’s number 165. A lot of people know where we are because we’re right next to Shree Raj Lassi Bar. Sometimes the smell of the lassi and the snacks comes up through the windows. It’s a very busy part of the city. There’s always noise from the street—horns honking and people shouting. Inside, we have bookshelves filled with old law books that have seen better days. Ayaz Ahmed & Advocates is a small practice. We spend most of our time dealing with files and meeting people who need a bit of help. The floor is that old tile that stays cool even when it’s boiling outside. We don’t have any fancy leather chairs or glass walls. It’s just a functional space where we can sit down and talk. Often, we’re running back and forth to the courts, so the office might be empty for an hour here or there. We use an old fan that wobbles a bit on high speed. It’s not a corporate environment at all. We know the tea seller downstairs and most of the other tenants in Ysh Complex. People come to us because they know we’re here and we’ve been here. We just try to handle things as they come. It’s a lot of reading and writing, day in and day out. That’s our life in Shivaji Nagar.
