Our office is way up on the 9th Floor, Unit 3, in the International Technology Park on Whitefield Road. Being in a place like ITPB means everything is very structured. We have to badge in every morning and take the elevators up with everyone else working in the park. From our windows, we can see the whole sprawl of Whitefield and the constant traffic on the main road below. We do a lot of technical work here, mostly focused on grains and technology stuff that happens in a lab or on a computer. It’s a quiet environment, mostly the sound of keyboards and the hum of the air conditioning. We have different sections for different tasks, but it’s all pretty much in one large area. The building is modern, but our actual workspace is full of notes, glass jars, and equipment that we use every day. We spend a lot of time looking at data and trying to figure out how things grow better. It’s a long way from the actual farms, but this is where the planning happens. The commute to Whitefield can be pretty rough, so most of us are here for long hours. We usually eat lunch in the canteen downstairs or grab something quick so we can get back to what we were doing. It’s a technical kind of job, but at the end of the day, we are just people trying to solve some tricky problems.
