Associated Engineering

We are Associated Engineering, based at No.14 in the Muniappa Industrial Estate in Vijinapura. We’re right opposite the TTK factory on Old Madras Road. That road is always packed with traffic, especially in the mornings and evenings when everyone is trying to get somewhere else. Our spot in the industrial estate is a bit quieter once you get off the main road, but you can still hear the traffic. The workshop is a large, open space where we keep all our gear. It’s got high ceilings and it gets quite drafty when the wind picks up. We’ve got various machines lined up, and there’s usually a thin layer of dust on everything by the end of the day. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy lobby; you just walk in and someone will be there working on something. We spend most of our time fixing things or putting parts together. It’s physical work and the hours can be long, but the team here is solid. We’ve been at this address for years and we know all the other shop owners in Muniappa. Sometimes we share tools or help each other out with a heavy lift. It’s a community of makers and fixers. We just focus on the task at hand and try to stay out of the heat as much as possible. It’s a basic, hardworking kind of place. We keep a bucket of cold water near the door during the summer months to stay hydrated.
