Down here in Ganjam, Orissa, things move at their own pace. Applicom India Pvt Ltd is where we spend our mornings and late afternoons. It is not like the big cities where everything is a rush. We handle different applications and technical work for folks around the district. The weather gets really humid, so we usually have the fans going full blast all day long. Sometimes the internet is a bit patchy, which can be a real headache when we need to send off reports. We have a small group of people working here. Most of us have been together for a while now. We know who likes their coffee with too much sugar and who prefers tea. We don't have a big corporate lobby or a receptionist in a suit. It is just a desk, some chairs, and a lot of work to get through. People come in and out, asking about various projects. We try to be helpful without making a big fuss about it. Being in Orissa, we see a lot of local stuff happening, and we like being part of this community. It is a quiet life for the most part, focusing on the tasks on our desks. We just take it one day at a time, making sure the work is finished before we head home to our families. The sunset over the fields nearby is something we always look forward to after we lock up the shutters.
