Appavu Pala Thottam

Being located at New Tharagpet 3rd main road 2 means we are right in the thick of things. Appavu Pala Thottam isn't a huge operation, just a local business trying to get through the week. The area is always noisy with lorries and people pushing carts. We’ve got this small space where we keep everything. It’s a bit dusty sometimes because of the construction nearby, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. We usually start our day before the sun is fully up, getting things ready for whoever stops by. There's no big sign with flashing lights, just our name and the door. We spend a lot of time talking to the regular customers who’ve been coming to this street for years. It feels like everyone knows everyone here. Sometimes the rain makes the road a mess, and we have to move things inside quickly. We don't use any high-tech systems for our inventory, just a notebook and a pen that mostly works. It's a bit old-fashioned, sure, but it gets the job done without any fuss. The 3rd main road gets really narrow when the delivery vans park on both sides, so getting in and out can be a bit of a puzzle. We just take it one day at a time, making sure we handle what’s in front of us. It’s not glamorous, but it’s our life and we’re used to the rhythm of the market area. We keep some extra stools for people to sit.
