About Anirban Urban Planner Civil Engineer – Builders & Developers in Bengaluru
I’m Anirban, and I work as an urban planner and civil engineer out of Whitefield, Bhori Ali 15. This place is usually a mess of maps, blueprints, and rolls of tracing paper. My desk is buried under site reports and pens that usually don’t work when I need them. Being an engineer in this area means I spend as much time out on the dusty roads as I do in my office. I don’t have a big firm or a fancy glass building. It’s just me and a couple of assistants who help with the surveying and the drafting. We deal with local planning issues, trying to figure out how to make buildings fit into the existing spaces without causing too much trouble. Sometimes people come in with very strange ideas about what they want to build, and I have to explain why the ground or the rules won’t allow it. It can be frustrating work, especially when the permits take forever to come through. My shoes are almost always covered in dust from visiting construction sites. The office is a bit cramped and the light isn't the best, but it’s where all the thinking happens. We drink a lot of strong coffee to keep going during the long afternoons. It’s a busy life, but there’s something good about seeing a project finally get started after months of planning on paper.
