Aluminium Fabrication

I set up this shop at Bommanahalli, right near the Salarpuria Apartment. It’s shop number 24/21. We do all kinds of aluminum work here, mostly for the buildings around. You can usually hear us cutting metal from down the street. It’s a small space, so we have to keep things organized or we run out of room to move. There’s always piles of aluminum sections and glass leaning against the walls. I started this because there’s so much construction happening nearby. The dust from the road comes in sometimes, but we just sweep it out. We make windows and frames and doors. It’s basic work but people need it. I spend a lot of time measuring things twice because mistakes cost money. Sometimes people from the apartments come over to ask for small repairs. We try to help them out when we can. It’s just a few of us here. We don't have a website or anything like that. Just the shop and our tools. The tea stall nearby is where we take our breaks. The traffic on the road can be a bit much in the evenings. We stay until the sun goes down usually. It’s an honest way to make a living. We just keep cutting and fixing until the job is done. The metal is cold in the mornings but we get used to it. We keep our scrap sorted in the back corner.
