Our workshop is located at Kumbarpet on J C Road, right in the middle of a very busy and crowded part of the city. If you have ever been down this way, you know how packed the streets can get with all the traffic and people moving goods back and forth. Inside our shop, it is mostly metal, grease, and the distinct smell of cutting oil. We have various heavy machines for different engineering tasks, and they take up almost all of the available floor space. It is certainly not the quietest place to spend a day, as there is always something being drilled, ground, or welded in the back. We spend a lot of our time bent over technical drawings or adjusting the fine settings on the lathes. The lighting inside isn't always perfect, but we have individual lamps positioned right where the actual work happens. Most of our tools have been with us for many years and they have that worn-in look that comes from constant use. We get a lot of walk-in customers needing a very specific part modified or something repaired that you simply cannot buy off a shop shelf anymore. It is a lot of manual work and hands-on problem-solving every single day. We keep the scrap metal in large bins near the back wall. There is usually a thin layer of iron filings on the workbench that we have to sweep off at the end of the shift. It is just a small team of us working together here.
