Al Ansaar Flower Decoration

If you walk down New Market Road in Shivaji Nagar, you’ll find us at number 75. It is a very busy street, especially early in the morning when the fresh stock arrives. Al Ansaar Flower Decoration has been here for quite some time, and we are surrounded by all kinds of other shops selling everything from spices to clothes. The floor is usually wet because we have to keep the flowers in buckets of water to stay fresh in the heat. There are always piles of leaves and cut stems around, which we try to sweep up when we get a spare minute. We spend most of our time tying garlands or putting together bouquets for weddings and local functions. It’s hard work on the fingers, especially with the thin wires and thread we use. Sometimes we stay up very late to finish a big stage decoration order. My hands always smell like roses or marigolds, which isn't a bad thing at all. The shop is small and can get quite cramped when we have a lot of crates delivered. We don’t have any fancy displays, just the flowers themselves which provide all the color you need. It’s a lively place to work, even if it’s a bit messy and loud with the sounds of the market outside our door. We just focus on getting the flowers out.
